Beautiful Girls

I have time and topic to write so why not? Lately I have been tortured by an idea. Its not something that is terribly bad but at the same time its not good. I know most girls will agree with me in the subject but as always there will be those who disagree which is why the first bill of rights exists. In either scenario I will just get down to business.

I hate when guys try to give girls beauty advice of tell them how to dress, wear their haircut or makeup. Specially if the guy is the kind to forget to even wear cologne. Guys simply can look good on a t-shirt and jeans while we girls have to struggle to "fit" the guy's ideas of beauty.

First of all guys have the same body shape overall. I mean there are those that can be thicker and those that can be more built and certainly those with short necks but in general the body structure is very square. With girls it is VERY different. This is the best link I could find to give a decent description of body types. . Then again, there are more popular names like pear shape, apple shape, and hourglass shape. We do not chose our body types and we cannot do anything to change them. There is no exercise that will change our body. It is the bone and muscle structure that makes the shape we have and the only way to balance it is to find clothes that will somewhat dissimulate our not so perfect bodies.

The second thing is also very important. The fact that we have to find clothes to dissimulate our bodies will not allow us to wear certain things. If we do it, it will worsen our shape. My mom likes to say
'de la moda lo que te acomoda' (out of fashion wear only what fits) and this cannot be more true. Just because you like a certain look does not mean that if we wear it it will look good. We know better so don't try to change that!

Third. Hair is complicated so don't make it worse. If you like girls with split ends and hair that smells like old onions then you are certainly into the straight hair look. There are many hair products without a doubt and all were made for a reason: because our hair is just like our body. There are those with thin hair, thick hair, curly hair, nappy hair, straight hair, frizzy hair, dry hair, oily hair, weak hair and permed hair. No wonder all these products were made. There are two types of damage all flat irons create: heat damage and mechanical damage. Heat damage is unavoidable, since the hotter a flat iron, the better it works (up to 450 °F (232 °C)). Less mechanical damage is achieved through smoother plates. Most plates are aluminum and coated with such things like a ceramic coating. As cheaper coatings wear off, the level of mechanical damage increases. Eventually hair will fall off and the wig industry will boost. Make up.

Everything so far is very reasonable but the next thing is a little more delicate. There are many disputes about what age a girl should wear makeup and how much. It is very common though to wear eyeliner. Let me say something about this instrument. It is the worst makeup ever! But then again, that's just my opinion and reality is that it runs with the humidity of the eye and then you end up with black splotches under your eyes. Not all waterproof makeup works and that applies to eyeliner which tends to not show when it is waterproof. Do not ever expect a girl to wear makeup a certain way. First make sure her parents are ok with it. Then make sure that the girl is comfortable wearing it. The best thing to do is to tell the girl's friend and it will be up to her to give her the advice if it's beneficial.

Now just because as human as we girls are and we cannot live without some kind of attention (and this CANNOT be denied!!!) does not mean that we will always give in to your charm if we know something does not accommodate our look. Sorry boys. I would like to question the sanity of those that let the media get in their head. We are not all and cannot be like the Victoria's Secret "Angels ". Get real and be nice. Accept women as we really are: beautiful girls.

Face in Shock: Priceless.

I'll take a few minutes off my stress to finally blog.

[long sigh]

The past school year, I have to say, has been a totally different experience. For once I was not in any Advanced Placement classes and as annoying as that was, I was very stress free for the most part. I did though have some challenges like French two which did not get easier and of course Algebra. I haven't always hated math and I've been able to do a decent job at it too and yet when I am asked to do a multi-step problem with letters and exponents and square roots and other such thing...that is when I start to despise math. I like my teacher though so I can say that I am trying. Besides that I would like to keep my class rank.

Junior year was supposed to be my hardest year. But everyone has been saying that the next year will be harder and honestly, I think of it as an ignorant lie. It is only hard if you slack!!! DUH! XP

I can say from experience that it is only hard if you have any AP classes and by hard I mean that there will be A LOT of homework but it is not impossible. It will only be a challenge if you take a college class...which is what I decided to do...and it was great. I actually have to say that being a social studies lover I quite enjoyed the class...SOMETIMES.

Let it be known that my teacher has a lot of experience and reputation that I will not tangent on due to the following example:

STUDENT: "Ms. Blah-blah I was up until two last night doing a project for Ms.(we'll call her Ms. Lady)
TEACHER: " Oh...*sigh* I understand. Its ok turn it in tomorrow. It won't be late."

That is pretty much how it goes. If it was for Ms. Lady, its excused. So grateful that I was because I only used that line twice. College is not as hard as it is explained or thought to be. It is a lot of work but it's not hard work. You are expected to preform well on a lot of material at a time but you are also given notice of when you need to be ready the very first day the professor hands the rubric for the semester. That is college. NO LATE WORK NO EXCUSE!

Its a good thing that its finally over and yet I have a little voice inside of me wanting to vent over one issue.

->generalizations<-

I HAAAAAAATE THEMM!!!!!!!!! >_<++++

Allow me to explain the situation. As I previously said, we are given notice of when we have major essays due and when our tests will be and therefore we have no excuse to say we were not prepared or given a warning. When we 'practiced' our first essay, we did it with the intention, according to Ms. Lady, to evaluate our writing skills. (PS if you don't like reading and writing, you better like math because that is all college is.) Our professor mentioned a few examples of study methods and in those she included a study group. A study group is very self-explanatory: a group gets together to study. That is just what we did since the very VERY first essay. As a group we consisted of four alumni capable of staying on task and contributing to the material in order to prepare topics. A topic took about an hour to cover. We always had to cover three topics AT LEAST. How did we do this? For about a week we would gather in a classroom to discuss all the information, take notes, do extra research, ask questions, fill in gaps of knowledge and ending in an outline to write a Position paper or a Test thesis. I do have some of the funniest inside jokes (railroads and time traveling...lmbo) with my study group that I learned to love. There was not a test that we failed to gather. We all became high B almost A students and yet after every test we had to tolerate the same lecture.

"THE TESTS WERE NOT GOOD!!!!!!" is a good summary of what we would hear for about an hour. We had B's and A's on our tests while the rest of the class managed with C's and D's. Let it be known that there were a few exceptions to the latter.

The final blow came on the last section test that we took. We stayed after school for a week until past 5 to study the material that was also bunched up with a reading passage that had to be analyzed as well as study material for our final exam and yet when it came down to the old lecture one phrase paralyzed me....

"YOU GUYS DON'T STUDY! WHAT IS THE STUFF THAT YA'LL ARE MAKING UP ON THE TESTS! THE WAY YOU STUDY IS IN A STUDY GROUP AND YOU DIVIDE THE WORK AND DISCUSS!!! ALL OF YOU SHOULD BE MAKING A'S AND I'M STILL SEEING C'S!!! IF YOU GUYS PUT ANY TIME LIKE I DID THIS PAST WEEKEND YOU GUYS WOULD HAVE NO TROUBLE WRITING THESE ESSAYS! HOW MORE SPECIFIC CAN THE QUESTION BE!? I SPENT TEN HOURS GRADING AND THIS WORK TELLS ME THAT YA'LL STUDIED THE PERIOD BEFORE! YOU CANNOT WING TESTS IN COLLEGE!!!!"
She had a pulsing vein on her neck and her face was turning purple...we all thought she was gonna blow up...she didn't...she just kept yelling.

I'm sorry but I wanted an apology. Our study group put in as much study time as she did grading time and yet we had to be put in a general accusation. We have plenty of witnesses to prove so: students, teachers and even janitors!!! I believe that if there is no proof to make an accusation or even a statement then it shouldn't be done!!! >_< What happened then next day??? Coincidentally we had to be in the room next door and Ms. Lady walked in, and in shock, walked out with as much pride as she can fit in her five feet tall body. Too bad all we got is "oh well they all make A's" as if she didn't know what had happened.

I am opinionated on these things and although we didn't get proper credit it was all worth it. Her face was priceless.

If its a Fact, then its a Fact ; No Need of Doubting

I am very close to my 50th post. Today I went through all the tittles on my blogs and read a couple and I realized that I had four or five drafts...I think...WELL anyways, the point is that I have enjoyed blogging a lot and I plan to continue blogging until I am being chased by insane people trying to kill me. I intended to write about something but all of a sudden I realized today that there's something bothering me a bit. Actually Monkey had a recent blog about all the things he hates, and, although some things in that list seem a little overboard, I have to say that I think everyone has a few of those. Like for example, pet peeves. I had never heard this term until I'd say three years ago give or take a year or so; but the point is that I think its ridiculous. Why is it called a pet peeve?! Well according to my friend Merriam Webster, a peeve is transitive verb and it means:

Pronunciation: \ˈpēv\
Inflected Form(s): peeved; peev·ing
-To make peevish or resentful : annoy
synonyms see irritate

When it is just used as a noun it means:

1 : a feeling or mood of resentment
2 : a particular grievance or source of aggravation

And yet, put together as pet peeve it means:

-A frequent subject of complaint. (By the way, its also a noun)

OK so this blog is not about pet peeves, I just wanted to point out how ridiculous English is. Today though was about the climax of my decision. I don't like to talk about how people's attitudes are wrong because in the end they are sometimes justified, but when they aren't it is only fair that I either mock them or that I complain. I will do the latter for this case.

What bothers me is when someone thinks they know everything. I'm not talking about a Smart-Alec, I am talking about someone lacking proper intelligence and yet they pursue to believe that they are correct or that their reasoning is more precise than that of an educated person. It's even worse when that person has many years of study and experience. Now I'm not saying that educated people are always right or that they are perfect and don't make mistakes.

SCENARIO:

  • A teacher is instructing on a certain lesson. Everyone else is following the teacher and doing as she says. Everything is in the book. Then comes this person saying that what the book says is not right. Then they continue to insinuate that they are right and attempt to convince those around him/her that their reasoning is correct.
What this does is make them look stupid. It really bothers me. It also bothers me when people doubt facts because of the simple thing that it is a fact. If it is a fact, and I mean a proven fact, there is no logic in doubting.

Then I hear the word no. Those two letters can really be a pain in the hind if it becomes constant. In other words, HOW THE HECK DO YOU CONTINUE TO THINK YOU ARE RIGHT IF IT IS A FACT THOUGHT BY SOMEONE OF HIGHER EDUCATION THAN YOU AND IT IS WRITTEN IN THE BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!! ASJFOEIJAKSJF EI FSKDJFOEIJFAKJER KSFJOEI!!!!!!

Thought I might just let it out. Now I am going to read some more facts in my history book.

The Crystal Cup

As the tittle states, I hate promises. I'm not saying that everyone is the cause of this, its just a part of me in the past that I cannot forget. It is also the kind of thing that I keep looking forward to and its still mere words.

My typing sucks this morning so I'll make this short.

I actually don't have much to expand on this, just the thought of it. I think that when a promise is done it should be carried out. At least to the most possible human way. I do not mean to say that its a forced action, but if a promise is made, it was for something.

But either way, they break. They are the most dangerous situation and they can ruin relationships. I try not to promise things. I think that in my imperfection I will as well break them and honestly its like not only did I hurt myself, I hurt the involved.

I think of them like a crystal cup. A precious little cup, so delicate that a simple blow could crack it. It has to be treated with the most careful gentleness. Nothing, not one single thing can touch it, just the carrier. And still no matter what, promises can't be eternal. Nothing in this life is forever, except imagination. That has no limits.

I have many matters to attend so this is just about it. I hate promises because they break.

The Mona Lisa

The first time I looked at the Mona Lisa I wondered why everyone made such a fuss about it. It seemed to me as if it didn't matter the story behind it or the controversy, the beauty of it was the reason why I liked that piece of art. To me it really makes no difference what is behind a person. It is who they are at that moment that matters and that is all that will matter forever. Of course there are times when an encounter with a criminal might seem like the end of the world but only in that case is it ok to be more critical.

The reason why I bring this up is because I had an unfinished blog and it has been bugging me that I had not completed it yet and I won't. I do have to say that questioning my thoughts is a matter of confusion and no logic. I hold my own logic. Well then again, I am seventeen and my logic could change, but like one author once said, "there are years of wonder and there are years of answers" or something like that. I may not hold true logics now but I will eventually, yet what I think now is the only thing that matters. Like in the Mona Lisa, it is not her smile and lack of eyebrows that will tell the story, it is the beauty of the artwork that has led to such fame.

My question lately is one that I am not really allowed to wonder or even discuss yet due to my short age, but in this case I have two logics and both sadden me.

What is love.

Before I get the whole 'you will know when you're older' stuff because 'I am yet too young to know', I'd like to say that I am at an age to wonder. I am excused to ask. And I have my own opinion.

The first was given to me by a very old friend of mine that has been married for some years now. He is a wise man and I am comfortable asking him stuff. I just have to be careful the way I ask. He stated that love may not end at death. Love at one point changes into the less passionate and lustful desire. It becomes a friendship. Company. The way love is supposed to happen in the first place. My comment in this is that like all things and situations, feelings change as well. Like some kind of mutation. It is not as if we wanted things to be like this, they just happen. This is true because I have seen it in many cases where is seems to me like that love feeling has vaporized into a memory. In most cases, this is true in older couples when sorrow consumes them after the death of their partner. It is a cycle that cannot be interrupted yet.

I agree.

My next opinion was given to me more directly by an all-knowing friend. Not meaning mockery but, when I asked, he avoided the subject until I kept insisting for an answer. Fear? I think yes. Love, according to my dear friend, is a feeling that is never there. Like in an equation, I would interpret, x+y=love. The values are not given. They do not exist, and in one way they do because, that is love. There are however, an infinite number of solutions. If love is a feeling that is never there, then how do you know that the other person is feeling it as well...? After all, love is supposed to be mutual. I think it is a matter of company.
Friendships are not completely compatible. Otherwise it would be awfully boring. The more you learn about a person the more you can relate, not the more you can say "oh me too"

SCENARIO
Him: I love walks by the park.
Her: Oh yes me too.
Him: I like reading sci-fic
Her: Yes. I do too.

That would eventually turn very monologic...or however it is you say that.

Or we could say...
Him:I love to read
Her:I don't. Why do you?
Him: It is a way to express emotion and thought. You should give it a try.
Her: eh... I guess

And then He can look forward to something.

I guess what I'm trying to say with the latter is that I cannot agree with the second logic. If love is a feeling that was never there then how can it exist? It cannot and it does. Love is just one way. The way I see it is that two people find a liking in something of the other person, there is an absence in both lives and the other person fills it. Like a puzzle. You just have to wait and find the piece that fits, and in the end, it will no longer be two connecting pieces. It will be a lifetime of memories that will, indeed, wear out. Love mutates like all living things. So to me love is alive.

Accomplishments

What do I want to write?

...
Accomplishments
...

----->few but important

I mean like in a matter of years I have acquired certain things and qualities. I am, to be honest, pleased. Not like completely satisfied, just pleased. I have my teddy Bear Alex and that has been the best. I have filtered my acquaintances to only get good friends, I've had good...let's say decent schooling, I have a heart-warming family (sometimes...),and I have the witnesses.I think it all sounds good for a typical seventeen year old.

Seventeen

What shall be of me at seventeen??? I think seventeen will possibly be the best time of my life. I do have some expectations though. I have to give in to my parents. A hard thing for both sides to admit but, might as well get used to the idea. At seventeen I'll have college already started. At sevente4en I'd like to dance. I want to be able to prove myself capable of doing something everyone believes me capable of doing but I have been too careful to do so. I can't please everyone, but I'd like to do this form me. Yeah! I'd like to do more for me! And even more for those I love.

For once in forever I'd like to drive at seventeen. I want to party more, to have fun! I want to witness better and read. OH! I do want to read and write! I want to smile more and lament less. At seventeen I want to forget fifteen. Forgive. It's not like I've purposely waited for seventeen to do all these things. I have been doing them and more but I want to have these noted by accomplished success. I want to dare to do the unexpected.

If I fall I'll try again. If I fail I'll learn from my mistakes.
If I succeed I'll try harder. Do better. Be better.

I am Valeria. I am seventeen. I am so totally pink.

Reasons

Ok so I had no time to type this today...yesterday? Monday! I'd like to get something straight with you spots-lovers. Oh BTW this is the only excused time you get to hate me.

Ok so when I was growing up in Mexico I had one favorite boy cousin who I LOVED playing with! We would play all kinds of games and talk and have lots of fun. I don't actually remember being mad at him or arguing. No... we were friends! Ok so now putting this aside...

In Mexico, PE class is more like calisthenics...like a fitness/exercise class, not sports class. Never was I forced to play with a team or a ball or a goal. It was a fun exercise thing. Sports were played outside of school.

Now back to my cousin.

When we could show off our athletic abilities it would be in a tag game or hide-and-go-seek (the mexican version). Sometimes though, we'd play soccer with an empty plastic 2 liter bottle of coke. BUT! That was more of a kick the bottle between the goalies (is that what its called?) and try to score each other. Of course this was my way of showing off I was not a wimpy girl. I could be though too! That was years ago.

Now let's skip to the more futuristic (well recent) times.

I had a friend who was (is) crazy about soccer. (Plus I grew up watching soccer games every Sunday with my aunts and uncles) so its not like I hated it until this friend showed up. Then there was the forced games of all other sports in P.E. class ever since we moved to Houston and started school there. I hated picking teams! I hated running after a ball! I hate ALL sports balls! GSH!!!! I hate sports! See! I didn't hate them until they forced me to play them and I just don't have the whole eye/body/team/goal coordination.

My equation:
vale+sports= - atletic ability/no coordination
or
v+s= -A/nC
they balance out perfectly...

I even developed my own theory on sports but because this is a public blog and I like my friends, if you want to know, ask me. I'd be glad to tell you how homos, balls and spots tie up.( oh and if you ask you can't get mad!)

The Saints..............
Yes, I watched the Super Bowl starting on the 3rd quarter (I can't believe that I knew there were four quarters). This though was only because my dear Algebra teacher was sooo crazy about the Saints playing (duh! she's from New Orleans!) and because everyone talks about the commercials. So basically it was a coincidence. I went for the Saints because everyone that was cool went for them so I figured they were cool. Good thing they won. I got carried away at one point but no one who was watching the game with us seemed to either care or be as exited. No fun people. So I started to try to share some excitement... BAD FEEDBACK

(JERKS!!!!!!!!!)

Another reason why I hate sports...guys turn into jerks!!!

Sigh... I'm gonna go read!
