Mediocrity
By that time I also experienced great pain. To have someone so close and to lose them in a second was perhaps the worst thing any human can go through. I don't think I will ever have a summer like '07. Ever since then I think life has become a roller coaster; ups and downs but no returns. This also reminds me of a blog I wrote a little while ago about photographs and how they are frozen seconds in time. I started to think how in a few years I will not look like I do now. I thought about how some of the things, things that happened for the first time, will not ever give me that same feeling. Its like all of a sudden I felt time slap me in the face. All that time that has gone by!! Those 17 years of my life that I have not felt the change because I was the change.
I don't like to talk about summer of '08 because of how terrible it was and well...summer of '09 was a huge breakthrough of my life but still not so interesting.
I get this feeling like when you dry swallow a big pill. To think that all this time has gone by and I am not the same person physically or emotionally. How horrible it feels to only look back at our memories and as we close our eyes try to remember and feel what it was like to be there in that state of person. I will never look like I do now. I also don't think I will think the same. But inside of me I feel the same; which is the odd thing because I know for a fact that I'm not.
Like I said, this summer has been absolutely worthless. Nothing happened that was worth mentioning. Yeah I went to summer school to get ahead on credits. Yeah I tried (and actually still am at the moment) to finish up my french review workbook. And what is worse is that all the things that I had planned to do I didn't do. Like for example, we planned to go on vacation and nothing. Not even Galveston. I personally planned to read a lot this summer and I only read one book. Its felt like the longest summer. Not the most boring but that is thanks to a few people but definitely the most time-wasted.
I don't have the concentration-span. And I also don't have the resources. I have lately become more independent and if I can't do it by myself then I don't do it at all. I don't like to depend on people and I don't like people to depend on me. Yeah every now and then its ok but all the time...no. I don't think so. And that is the case of this summer. There was plenty of time but no will. Because that is the truth. I sit here and wait for something incredible to happen. Yeah well the only incredible thing that happened was that I cut my hair and even that I feel horrible about.
Sigh...and in the end...well we can't have it all.

My Life Revolves Around High Heels
I think culture is one of the most beautiful gems that humanity possesses. It makes each and every one of us different and there really is not a better culture. All cultures are unique and mysterious because what is normal to one country is disrespectful in another. So the question is how do we all get to a midpoint?
A while ago I was asked to explain my political position. Of course I explained that I was neutral and that the government I support is not terrestrial, but it gave me something to think about. It was one of those moments where I just feel like thinking and rubbing those neurons of mine. I came up with a set of words to describe my way of thinking. ***Culturally speaking as well!<----
- Liberal
I follow two authorities. The holy and the head. The holy I follow out of love. The head I follow out of command. If I could I would probably be the most dependent woman alive. I do not like and have never liked to depend on absolutely anyone or anything. Not for money, not for rides, not for shelter, not even for my basic necessities. What is there now is gone tomorrow. Of course if I am made to be submissive I, in exchange, demand to be paid for. Literally. Not like I'm trying to be cheap, but, for example I am expected to help around the house (clean cook etc) as well as being a good student and Witness so I expect that I will not have to pay when we go out. I expect to be driven to where ever I need to go. Its a matter that I see it as if I give I get. When I am no longer expected to do all that then I will contribute to myself. Let this not be mistaken with greed because I also do not care how much I spend on gifts or when there is a need.
I think of it as a butterfly.
If I am kept in a cage I expect to have lots of room to fly freely, I expect to be fed and taken care of. I in return, I will not die. If I am expected to feed myself I will not hesitate to die. I am as free as my wings spread. If you tie my wings you will get a very vicious and angry butterfly that will fight to the very last breath for freedom.
- Social
This one is a little more complicated. As mentioned above, I love culture. I respect, value and learn from other cultures. There is not a single culture that I don't like. I adapt and that is the big issue here. Adaptation is part of the basics of humans; it keeps us alive. There are a lot of things that I am ok with and will not be offended by if another culture practices it. I however, do not like to be made to stop practicing my culture because it offends others. The information has been very clear when given to us. We need to respect. Some people, for example, are offended by women who greet men with kisses and vice versa. Or when dancing with people that you're not married with (in the case that it is a complete stranger I can understand, but when its someone you know well and have a long friendship with then that I accept). There is a difference of not doing these to not be a stumbling stone to the new and to be an excuse to be blamed on for an immature person.
Simply put, if people are gonna adapt to me, I will adapt to them.
Respect is the key. Think of the Scottish kilt. To the world, a kilt that is a skirt, and men are not supposed to wear skirts. Supposed to does not mean it must be that way. If the Scottish were to pay attention to the insults made by ignorant close-minded people, the culture would be lost. Strange things to the eyes of ignorant men should not demolish a culture.
"No culture is the best culture. Take the best out of all of them" and this does not make anyone any different.

Adopting a Purpse
Well as for those who do not know or are too far away to see, I cut my hair. It was soooo long ( I had been growing it for a year!) and now its soooo short. This, to tell you the truth, was a much bigger change than I expected it to be. Honestly, I didn't want it to go this short until it was long enough to be donated to the cancer kids. That was my whole purpose on growing my hair. At the beginning of my junior year, I read My Sister's Keeper. The movie came out that summer but I refused to watch the movie without having read the book. Although it took me a little longer to read than most books, I finally finished it and then saw the movie (which was such a disappointment). That is when I took my resolution on growing my hair.
I had one problem though... I hate long hair.
The only other time in which I grew my hair was when my aunt was getting married and she asked me to let it grow a little so her professional hair stylist could do something wonderful with my hair. Little did he do to my hair but in the end I was happy because for the first time in my life was my hair done by a pro (and he was not gay). Of course, as soon as I came back from that trip, I went straight to cut it off. Its not that I'm lazy, its that my hair's anatomy is odd.
When I was little, my hair was cut straight down and with squared bangs. As I started to enter puberty, my hair decided to do so as well and it stated to frizz. Not curl, not wave, frizz. There was nothing I could do to it to either get straight or curl. In fact the first time I had my hair straightened, it was chaotic. I'm kinda glad I could only find one picture with my hair going through that stage... I can't remember who became my hair tutor but I'm glad with what she (or he) advised me to do with my hair. I've had so many different hair cuts and honestly the one thing I had to do was learn to accept my hair the way it was.
I think that is when my hair decided to be curly. Later I was introduced to mousse and a real straightener. Those two things became my buddies. Of course later came other products and items that I will not sit here and list but just know they are there.
The one thing that bothers me the most about this hair cut is that I was not able to meet my goal. I was so set and close! I still have the hair which some people find gross...but I feel like my hair and I were having a close connection for the one time in my life! Both of us were putting up with the other and learning to let go of the past. I was also so close on reaching the minimum required to donate...
Then came my frustration. For the first time in a year I got frustrated. I needed a hair cut! I mean after a year I didn't even dare to trim it because I was afraid I'd be tempted to cut it and well as soon as I walked to to salon... I requested a bob... I just couldn't help it. I mean when I saw the scissors cut that first chunk I felt a knot in my throat. I wanted to just stop right there and just ask for the trim but it was too late. I watched my hair falling with a remorse in me.
Why can't I stick to my goals? My own personal goals. The same thing happened when I tried writing a novel. I stopped just as I got to the end. I wish I could adopt a purpose and actually stick to it. Now I feel as if I had taken a kid's hair away. Maybe a girl's chance to feel beautiful...
siiiiigh.............
Now I have to start over...

An opinion on Technology
Then again if I were to commit a crime I would be tried as an "adult". NOT THAT I WILL!!!
As of right now I am enjoying college. It is not at all what my previous teacher told me. (See Face in shock: Priceless). That lady...not only evil and crazy, got the whole college idea distorted in my mind but it turns out that it is not that HORRIBLE or demanding. Yes, there is homework and yes we are expected to get things done alone, but, we can ask for help! We can discuss! And we do have reading check-up quizzes!!!!!!!! Just thought I'd point that out.
Well considering that yesterday I went with my mother shopping, I realized something that I don't think I will ever get used to: people using a bluetooth connection. AKA a headpiece.
These people, no matter how popular these little artifacts have become, still look crazy! I mean no one walks around talking out-loud, making hand and face gestures and ignoring those around them. It shocks me how even in the case in which they are seen a little crazy, they still use these things for the convenience. I'd call it laziness more so because one, you should not drive and use a cell phone and two, holding a phone to your ear does not require much energy. Pretending that we as a society are not too lazy, we would use the speaker but! everyone around us would be informed about our conversations. Now think about these bluetooth users, the call people's attention not matter how discrete people are. In their minds they are laughing as they try to figure out if they are crazy or if they are indeed using the headpiece. The latter is usually the most common case but as for the meanwhile they got a good laugh at them, plus, an inside view to the conversation. It is more discrete if one speaks into a phone than it one speaks to the air.
This kind of invention makes me wonder what will be popular ten years from now if it is possible that we, society, are still alive. I still don't believe that robots will one day be like humans and take over the world. Simply, a non-living object cannot operate without a conscience and a conscience cannot be obtained if it is not educated by moral. A robot cannot have morals. Morals are obtained through experience; they are chosen, selected, adopted, disregarded and forgotten. Without a conscience, technology cannot take over society. We always have the power to shut it down and that is a fact.
I do however, believe that people are starting to run out of creativity and coming up with silly nonsense that add up to the increasing obesity rate.
If society is alive in a good 50 years or so, we will end up looking somewhat like the producers of Wall-e envisioned.
Now I wonder if I should buy a dictionary for class...

Beautiful Girls

I have time and topic to write so why not? Lately I have been tortured by an idea. Its not something that is terribly bad but at the same time its not good. I know most girls will agree with me in the subject but as always there will be those who disagree which is why the first bill of rights exists. In either scenario I will just get down to business.
I hate when guys try to give girls beauty advice of tell them how to dress, wear their haircut or makeup. Specially if the guy is the kind to forget to even wear cologne. Guys simply can look good on a t-shirt and jeans while we girls have to struggle to "fit" the guy's ideas of beauty.
First of all guys have the same body shape overall. I mean there are those that can be thicker and those that can be more built and certainly those with short necks but in general the body structure is very square. With girls it is VERY different. This is the best link I could find to give a decent description of body types.
The second thing is also very important. The fact that we have to find clothes to dissimulate our bodies will not allow us to wear certain things. If we do it, it will worsen our shape. My mom likes to say 'de la moda lo que te acomoda' (out of fashion wear only what fits) and this cannot be more true. Just because you like a certain look does not mean that if we wear it it will look good. We know better so don't try to change that!
Third. Hair is complicated so don't make it worse. If you like girls with split ends and hair that smells like old onions then you are certainly into the straight hair look. There are many hair products without a doubt and all were made for a reason: because our hair is just like our body. There are those with thin hair, thick hair, curly hair, nappy hair, straight hair, frizzy hair, dry hair, oily hair, weak hair and permed hair. No wonder all these products were made. There are two types of damage all flat irons create: heat damage and mechanical damage. Heat damage is unavoidable, since the hotter a flat iron, the better it works (up to 450 °F (232 °C)). Less mechanical damage is achieved through smoother plates. Most plates are aluminum and coated with such things like a ceramic coating. As cheaper coatings wear off, the level of mechanical damage increases. Eventually hair will fall off and the wig industry will boost. Make up.
Everything so far is very reasonable but the next thing is a little more delicate. There are many disputes about what age a girl should wear makeup and how much. It is very common though to wear eyeliner. Let me say something about this instrument. It is the worst makeup ever! But then again, that's just my opinion and reality is that it runs with the humidity of the eye and then you end up with black splotches under your eyes. Not all waterproof makeup works and that applies to eyeliner which tends to not show when it is waterproof. Do not ever expect a girl to wear makeup a certain way. First make sure her parents are ok with it. Then make sure that the girl is comfortable wearing it. The best thing to do is to tell the girl's friend and it will be up to her to give her the advice if it's beneficial.
Now just because as human as we girls are and we cannot live without some kind of attention (and this CANNOT be denied!!!) does not mean that we will always give in to your charm if we know something does not accommodate our look. Sorry boys. I would like to question the sanity of those that let the media get in their head. We are not all and cannot be like the Victoria's Secret "Angels ". Get real and be nice. Accept women as we really are: beautiful girls.

Face in Shock: Priceless.
[long sigh]
The past school year, I have to say, has been a totally different experience. For once I was not in any Advanced Placement classes and as annoying as that was, I was very stress free for the most part. I did though have some challenges like French two which did not get easier and of course Algebra. I haven't always hated math and I've been able to do a decent job at it too and yet when I am asked to do a multi-step problem with letters and exponents and square roots and other such thing...that is when I start to despise math. I like my teacher though so I can say that I am trying. Besides that I would like to keep my class rank.
Junior year was supposed to be my hardest year. But everyone has been saying that the next year will be harder and honestly, I think of it as an ignorant lie. It is only hard if you slack!!! DUH! XP
I can say from experience that it is only hard if you have any AP classes and by hard I mean that there will be A LOT of homework but it is not impossible. It will only be a challenge if you take a college class...which is what I decided to do...and it was great. I actually have to say that being a social studies lover I quite enjoyed the class...SOMETIMES.
Let it be known that my teacher has a lot of experience and reputation that I will not tangent on due to the following example:
STUDENT: "Ms. Blah-blah I was up until two last night doing a project for Ms.(we'll call her Ms. Lady)
TEACHER: " Oh...*sigh* I understand. Its ok turn it in tomorrow. It won't be late."
That is pretty much how it goes. If it was for Ms. Lady, its excused. So grateful that I was because I only used that line twice. College is not as hard as it is explained or thought to be. It is a lot of work but it's not hard work. You are expected to preform well on a lot of material at a time but you are also given notice of when you need to be ready the very first day the professor hands the rubric for the semester. That is college. NO LATE WORK NO EXCUSE!
Its a good thing that its finally over and yet I have a little voice inside of me wanting to vent over one issue.
->generalizations<-
I HAAAAAAATE THEMM!!!!!!!!! >_<++++
Allow me to explain the situation. As I previously said, we are given notice of when we have major essays due and when our tests will be and therefore we have no excuse to say we were not prepared or given a warning. When we 'practiced' our first essay, we did it with the intention, according to Ms. Lady, to evaluate our writing skills. (PS if you don't like reading and writing, you better like math because that is all college is.) Our professor mentioned a few examples of study methods and in those she included a study group. A study group is very self-explanatory: a group gets together to study. That is just what we did since the very VERY first essay. As a group we consisted of four alumni capable of staying on task and contributing to the material in order to prepare topics. A topic took about an hour to cover. We always had to cover three topics AT LEAST. How did we do this? For about a week we would gather in a classroom to discuss all the information, take notes, do extra research, ask questions, fill in gaps of knowledge and ending in an outline to write a Position paper or a Test thesis. I do have some of the funniest inside jokes (railroads and time traveling...lmbo) with my study group that I learned to love. There was not a test that we failed to gather. We all became high B almost A students and yet after every test we had to tolerate the same lecture.
"THE TESTS WERE NOT GOOD!!!!!!" is a good summary of what we would hear for about an hour. We had B's and A's on our tests while the rest of the class managed with C's and D's. Let it be known that there were a few exceptions to the latter.
The final blow came on the last section test that we took. We stayed after school for a week until past 5 to study the material that was also bunched up with a reading passage that had to be analyzed as well as study material for our final exam and yet when it came down to the old lecture one phrase paralyzed me....
"YOU GUYS DON'T STUDY! WHAT IS THE STUFF THAT YA'LL ARE MAKING UP ON THE TESTS! THE WAY YOU STUDY IS IN A STUDY GROUP AND YOU DIVIDE THE WORK AND DISCUSS!!! ALL OF YOU SHOULD BE MAKING A'S AND I'M STILL SEEING C'S!!! IF YOU GUYS PUT ANY TIME LIKE I DID THIS PAST WEEKEND YOU GUYS WOULD HAVE NO TROUBLE WRITING THESE ESSAYS! HOW MORE SPECIFIC CAN THE QUESTION BE!? I SPENT TEN HOURS GRADING AND THIS WORK TELLS ME THAT YA'LL STUDIED THE PERIOD BEFORE! YOU CANNOT WING TESTS IN COLLEGE!!!!"
She had a pulsing vein on her neck and her face was turning purple...we all thought she was gonna blow up...she didn't...she just kept yelling.
I'm sorry but I wanted an apology. Our study group put in as much study time as she did grading time and yet we had to be put in a general accusation. We have plenty of witnesses to prove so: students, teachers and even janitors!!! I believe that if there is no proof to make an accusation or even a statement then it shouldn't be done!!! >_< What happened then next day??? Coincidentally we had to be in the room next door and Ms. Lady walked in, and in shock, walked out with as much pride as she can fit in her five feet tall body. Too bad all we got is "oh well they all make A's" as if she didn't know what had happened.
I am opinionated on these things and although we didn't get proper credit it was all worth it. Her face was priceless.

If its a Fact, then its a Fact ; No Need of Doubting
I am very close to my 50th post. Today I went through all the tittles on my blogs and read a couple and I realized that I had four or five drafts...I think...WELL anyways, the point is that I have enjoyed blogging a lot and I plan to continue blogging until I am being chased by insane people trying to kill me. I intended to write about something but all of a sudden I realized today that there's something bothering me a bit. Actually Monkey had a recent blog about all the things he hates, and, although some things in that list seem a little overboard, I have to say that I think everyone has a few of those. Like for example, pet peeves. I had never heard this term until I'd say three years ago give or take a year or so; but the point is that I think its ridiculous. Why is it called a pet peeve?! Well according to my friend Merriam Webster, a peeve is transitive verb and it means:
When it is just used as a noun it means:
1 : a feeling or mood of resentment
2 : a particular grievance or source of aggravation
And yet, put together as pet peeve it means:
-A frequent subject of complaint. (By the way, its also a noun)
OK so this blog is not about pet peeves, I just wanted to point out how ridiculous English is. Today though was about the climax of my decision. I don't like to talk about how people's attitudes are wrong because in the end they are sometimes justified, but when they aren't it is only fair that I either mock them or that I complain. I will do the latter for this case.
What bothers me is when someone thinks they know everything. I'm not talking about a Smart-Alec, I am talking about someone lacking proper intelligence and yet they pursue to believe that they are correct or that their reasoning is more precise than that of an educated person. It's even worse when that person has many years of study and experience. Now I'm not saying that educated people are always right or that they are perfect and don't make mistakes.
SCENARIO:
- A teacher is instructing on a certain lesson. Everyone else is following the teacher and doing as she says. Everything is in the book. Then comes this person saying that what the book says is not right. Then they continue to insinuate that they are right and attempt to convince those around him/her that their reasoning is correct.
Then I hear the word no. Those two letters can really be a pain in the hind if it becomes constant. In other words, HOW THE HECK DO YOU CONTINUE TO THINK YOU ARE RIGHT IF IT IS A FACT THOUGHT BY SOMEONE OF HIGHER EDUCATION THAN YOU AND IT IS WRITTEN IN THE BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!! ASJFOEIJAKSJF EI FSKDJFOEIJFAKJER KSFJOEI!!!!!!
Thought I might just let it out. Now I am going to read some more facts in my history book.
